Ballard Locks ✪
3015 NW 54th St, Seattle, WA 98107
The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (or the Ballard Locks) are a staple of Seattle maritime infrastructure, it connects Shilshole Bay in the Puget Sound, with Salmon Bay and later Lake Union. The Locks are located in a very beautiful park, with a visitors center that has miniature models to demonstrate how the locks displace water to allow boats through. From mid-June to September, you can see Salmon climbing the fish ladder in their observation room, or making leaps up the waterway. Argosy also offers a cruise route that takes you through the locks, if you want to experience them in action.

Cal Anderson Park ✪ ✱
1635 11th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122
At the center of Capitol Hill, Cal Anderson Park is easy to access via the LINK, and full of life. It is home to the Hot Rat Summer mosaic, and offers a great open green space, basketball courts, a sports field, and the fountain sculpture Waterworks by Douglas Hollis. The Park is a notable part of Seattle queer history, being named after the first openly gay state legislator in 2003, after his death in 1995. It continues to host queer events and community markets, as a gathering spot for the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Fuji Bakery Interbay
1030 Elliott Avenue West Seattle, Washington 98119
Fuji Bakery is a classic for me, the Interbay location is their primary bakery, though they have another location in the International district which is just as good, and easier to access via the LINK. Their staples, in my humble opinion, are thier variety of cream filled malasada, including the vanilla custard filled 'crunchy cream' which is crusted in frosted flakes. Their ube, strawberry, and azuki varities are also increibly good, and they do cakes!

A cute hole in the wall coffee shop--literally, you won't find any place to sit, it's located in a repurposed bathroom from 1908--perched at the entrance to the Gum Wall, just below Pike Place Market. It's a bit pricey because of its location at the heart of a more touristy area, but it offers locally roasted beans, and a good number of unique combinations, including the mystery mocha if you're having trouble deciding.

Seattle Public Library Central Branch
1000 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104
One of the top ten things to do in the city, not just becuase of its size, its location relative to other attractions, and its affordability. The Central Branch was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and American architect Joshua Ramus. Its awkward glass walls give it a distinct geometric shape inspired in part by the burdgeoning digital age of the late 90s and early 2000s. Inside, you'll find the iconic 'Red Floor' on the fourth floor, bright green escalators, and the 'book spiral'. If you're interested in libraries or architecture, it is worth stopping by.

Largely considered one of the best fish-and-chips dives in the greater Seattle area. For good reason, the vibes are 'your grandpa who used to be a fisherman and wears way too many hawaiian shirts' and the food is well worth the trip if you don't already live in West Seattle, plus, it's an excuse to enjoy our local water taxi service and the free bus loop around Alki
