Here are some things going on in my life as of October 2026, in no particular order of importance. Inspired by Derek Sivers and Nownownow.com
I am clawing my way through the final few semesters of my masters program at the University of Arizona. It's been a wild year and a half, somehow it feels like it's been forever and no time at all. I have one more class I need to do, and an internship before I finish up my portfolio and apply to graduate. Unfortunately, financing has gotten a bit more difficult as the Big Beautiful Bill went through and changed financial aid for grad students, but I have enough in savings to scramble my way past the finish line next year.
My new job is a handfull, but it's the first job I've had in a while that is actually relevent to my career path. The institution I work at is struggling, my state hates funding education and everyone hates funding libraries, so we have to make do with what we can.
Pumpkin is nice and healthy! She's turned two this year, funny to think two years ago I was cramped up in a shitty apartment in Belltown with her curled up beside me, no bigger than my face. She's grown so much, and still loves kicking the soccer ball around.
I've really picked up my reading since the start of the year. It hasn't helped that I work in a library now, so my To Be Read pile keeps growning, and it really hasn't helped that I got an EReader this month. I try to alternate between physical book and digital book to keep myself moving along. But My shelf only has so much space, I may have to get another one at some point. My creative hobbies have slowed down a bit, I'm not drawing or writing (fiction) as much as I used to. A lot of my focus has been on nonfiction writing, politics, physics, and technology as of late. On the occasion that I do pick up the paintbrush, it's been in short bursts. I'm familiar with this dynamic, my interests tend to fluxuate from the metaphorical (and incorrect pop-science analogy) left brain to right brain. I'm sure I'll flip back to the more creative side eventually.
I haven't done much major travelling, but I did pay a visit to Wallace Falls via bus, leaving at 5am and returning at around 2pm. I visited some new restaurants around town including Secret Congee and Pike Place's Oriental Mart (both 10/10 btw). Since fall and winter are just around the corner as I write this, most of my adventures are probably going to be contained inside. Probably.
